(well, not the prevelant use of tissues ;)) Spreading Ashton's story (both the good AND bad parts) has given me the pleasure of opening the eyes of many people to a community of the population who is so often looked down upon and forgotten. Abused and bullied, these kids very often never have friends who they can look up to and respect. Therefore not respecting themselves. You've done a WORLD of good in opening your eyes to just one kid.... :) We thank you VERY MUCH for that! And This is my fourth box of tissues. I have shown this to the majority of my school, and they are all incredibly proud of you and Ashton, being so willing to give everything for a chance to be joyful. And I have this posted in my room, just wanted to let you know :PAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1061286872286285159.post-33285916578388277552013-04-26T07:02:16.877-04:002013-04-26T07:02:16.877-04:00I wanted to also say that if my little family has ...I wanted to also say that if my little family has changed the life of one other, than I've done what I set out to do. Educating the world that special people like Ashton (or Gervas, or any of other team hoyt friends) are just people with a few extra challenges. But the way I look at it, we ALL have challenges to overcome, some just have to work a little harder at it. Thank you for being the people who can open your eyes and see past all of that.Jennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00430436654780840205noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1061286872286285159.post-21153932189597033662013-04-25T20:51:42.727-04:002013-04-25T20:51:42.727-04:00:) I wouldn't change the last year for NOTHING...:) I wouldn't change the last year for NOTHING in the world!! God puts people in our lives exactly when we need them, even when we least expect it. We're very glad you all decided to take a chance with Team Hoyt VB! :) love you guys!Jennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00430436654780840205noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1061286872286285159.post-32200574873897523002013-04-25T20:14:33.858-04:002013-04-25T20:14:33.858-04:00Jenn, this is a wonderful post! We will forever be greatful to Team Hoyt Virginia Beach and you and your family, especially Ashton for introducing us to the "other world" and all the great people in it. It opened our eyes to what we were missing by not approaching disabled people. I would have never met Gervas and all my other friends and would have missed out on a lot of life changing experiences!I love the smiles and the hugs and will spread the knowledge Marc and I have gained to as many people as possible!Andreanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1061286872286285159.post-43505109060504769522013-04-05T20:20:00.135-04:002013-04-05T20:20:00.135-04:00She will! Marc will tell you that I was extremely apprehensive (although I didn't tell him this until much later) when we first met him because he was a KID pushing my "baby". I'm so glad I didn't let that apprehension get in the way of the amazing and wonderful friendship these two have. They are an amazing team together and walked into each other's lives at the "just right" moment. :)

Jennhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00430436654780840205noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1061286872286285159.post-29882595506203743862013-04-05T18:05:20.576-04:002013-04-05T18:05:20.576-04:00How beautiful! I hope my princess will have a special big sister type like this at some point...for now I know she has some very special "friends" who have autism. Including the little boy in her class who clapped and yelled "yeah!" when she got an award on awards day. She, of course, was oblivious!Blessed by Autismhttp://blessedbyautism.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
